The American Elm (Ulmus Americana) is a stately, graceful tree, featuring branches that swoop down like a fountain. This tree is considered a fast grower, potentially maturing to 40′ tall with a high spreading canopy. It’s green leaves turn a beautiful gold in fall. The American elm is an extremely hardy tree that can withstand winter temperatures as low as -44 F. Trees in areas unaffected by Dutch Elm disease can live for several hundred years. This tree thrives best in moist, well drained soil.
